Bio  John Smith is a pioneering British singer‑songwriter and guitarist at the forefront of contemporary folk and roots music for more than two decades. Born in Essex and raised on the Devon coast, he has carved out a singular voice in modern folk, blending intricate fingerstyle and slide guitar with deeply felt storytelling that has captivated audiences around the world.  Smith’s career has taken him from intimate living rooms to festival tents and sold‑out concert halls throughout Europe, the UK and beyond, amassing over 125 million streams on Spotify. Early in his journey he supported the late great John Martyn, laying the foundation for collaborations and shared stages with artists such as Sarah Jarosz, The Milk Carton Kids, Patty Griffin, Joan Baez, David Gray, Tom Jones and Jackson Browne.  Known for his honeyed voice and virtuosic guitar work; sometimes employing open tunings, slide, and expressive effects, Smith’s song writing evokes timeless themes of love, journey and introspection.
